


Certificate IV in Finance/Mortgage Broking (FNS 40804)
Suitable for candidates who:
- are new to the mortgage broking sector, and seek to get the necessary knowledge and practical competencies to get started;
- wish to pursue a career as a mortgage broker, and seek to obtain the nationally recognised qualification required by employers; or
- are currently working in the industry, and would like to formalise their skills and knowledge gained through their practice.
This course will equip you with:
- essential knowledge of the mortgage broking industry basic skills to work as a mortgage broker;
- understanding of the lending process and working knowledge of the relevant industry legislation;
- the necessary lead generation and client management skills required to become a successful mortgage broker;
- ASIC PS146 Tier 2 compliance;
- the required qualification allows you to be an Accredited Member of the Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA).
Career Pathways
The course prepares you for work such as:
- self-employed, contract or a franchisee mortgage broker;
- mortgage lender within a bank, building society, credit union or a mortgage manager;
- an Accredited Mortgage Consultant with the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA).

Recognition of Previous Study and Experience at our Assessment Centre
AIFA recognises the skills and knowledge you have gained through your work experience and/ or previous studies:
- CREDIT TRANSFER: If you have previously completed relevant competency units at any RTO, AIFA will give you credit transfers towards your qualification. Please indicate on your enrollment form your request for RPL – Credit Transfer. Credit Transfer will reduce the time required to complete a qualification.
- CURRENT COMPETENCY AND EXPERIENCE: AIFA has established an Assessment Centre to allow assessment of candidates with relevant work experience and competencies. Those who have extensive experience in their field can complete the entire qualification by assessment through our Assessment Centre.
Assessment requirements
To complete the course you are required to complete the following assessments for each module:
- Assignment (except Module 5)
- Written and multiple choice examinations (except Module 4)
Examinations take one hour and are held at 4.00pm over 4 consecutive days. The results of your assignments and examinations will be available within 7 days of the examination day. You will be provided with a Statement of Attainment and a testamur certificate upon successful completion of the Course.
