


FNS 40604 CERTIFICATE IV IN FINANCIAL SERVICES (ACCOUNTING)
Suitable for candidates who:
- intend to perform or supervise office bookkeeping duties such as completing Business Activity Statements (BAS), accounts payable and receivable processes, and other office taxes, preparing budgets, operational reporting, producing basic management and job costing reports and maintaining inventory records within a small to medium business enterprise; or
- are already working in the industry and wish to obtain the qualification to broaden their knowledge and take on supervision of a range of bookkeeping functions in a small business environment; or
- wish to take on responsibilities of office manager in a small to medium business environment.
This course will equip you with:
- the ability to undertake tasks such as payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable processing, maintenance of general ledger, preparation of financial reports;
- the ability to use computer software (MYOB) in the accounting environment;
- an accounting qualification for membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB);
- a qualification for registration as an ATO BAS Agent with prerequisite experience that may be required (subject to passing of enabling legislation by Federal Parliament expected in 2009);
- the qualification required by Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia to be a Registered Debt Administrator from 1 July 2009.

The course prepares you for work such as:
- office/administration manager in small businesses;
- assistant in budget preparation, costing clerk, or asset and inventory clerk;
- accounts receivable/ payable or payroll clerk;
- general clerical assistants, or trainee accountants;
- office support roles in financial services businesses and banking;
- BAS Agent;
- Registered Debt Administrator.

Study Pathways
As a graduate of this course you will be granted full credit towards the Diploma of Accounting, and the Advanced Diploma of Accounting.
Classroom Part-time:
- Classroom attendance 8 hours per week for two sessions of 11 weeks;
- Private study approximately 8-12 hours per week
Classroom Full-time:
- Classroom attendance 32 hours per week for 7 weeks;
- Private study approximately 16 hours per week
Distance Education
- Submit assessments at your own pace; complete qualification within 12 months.
Recognition of Previous Study and Experience at our Assessment Centre
- CREDIT TRANSFER: If you have previously completed relevant competency units at any RTO, we will give you credit transfers towards your qualification. Please indicate on your enrollment form your request for RPL – Credit Transfer. Credit Transfer will reduce the time required to complete a qualification.
- CURRENT COMPETENCY AND EXPERIENCE: AIFA has established an Assessment Centre to allow assessment of candidates with relevant work experience and competencies. Candidates can complete the entire qualification by assessment through our Assessment Centre.
