CHOOSE YOUR STUDY FORMAT
This Qualification requires candidates to complete four modules containing competency units that provide a comprehensive approach to training in Accounting. There are three training formats available to candidates. While each training format has different features, each training format completes training in each module over 10 weeks. The four modules are completed over 12 months. Candidates are required to complete a number of assessment tasks in each module and lodge them for assessment on the nominated dates; all assessments are compulsory including those required during classroom or workshop formats. Assessment tasks are available for download online during each assessment period; some assessments may be completed on-line in a secure environment.
Flexible Learning format: Using the WebEx platform, candidates are required to participate in 5 scheduled fortnightly two-hour workshops over each ten-week module. Candidates do not attend physical classrooms but work as virtual classes through AIFA's live and interactive WebEx system - the benefits of the classroom without the inconvenience. Workshops are held Monday to Thursday at 2.00pm and 5.00pm and on Saturdays at 10.00am and 1.00pm. The workshops are not lectures but are sessions involving explanations from trainers, demonstration of skills and practice of skills with trainers. Candidates who are unable to attend a workshop will have opportunity to review video of a workshop for up to 7 days after the workshop session.
AIFA'S WebEx learning: WebEx learning is a live and interactive virtual classroom with video and voice participation. WebEx does not require any special software and is accessed by entering AIFA's WebEx internet site. AIFA supplies each student with a head set, microphone and video camera for connection to each WebEx session. It is essential to have an internet connection with appropriate speed. Broadband internet connection is highly recommended. Wireless internet connection is acceptable, however is often not reliable, affecting the quality of video and audio transmission. A dial-up internet connection is not sufficient for WebEx participation.
Part-time classroom format: Candidates can enrol as a part-time student attending classes one day (Saturday from 9.00 to 5.00), or two evenings (5.30 to 9.00) each week for 10 weeks in each module
Full-time classroom format: Candidates can enrol as full-time students and attend classroom training on 2 days (9.00 to 5.00) each week - either Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday for 10 weeks in each module. This is the preferred entry point for Job Seekers and requires a commitment of at least 20 hours per week.
Candidates are required to elect their preferred format, time and classroom training centre; we seek to accommodate your preferences whenever possible. When candidates experience a change of circumstances AIFA will consider written requests to change from one format to another format to assist in the successful completion of the qualification. Candidates who leave the program before completion of the qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment for all competency units that have been successfully completed; if sufficient competency units have been completed but not the full qualification, candidates may be awarded Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting). The maximum time allowed to complete the full qualification is 24 months from commencement.
RECOGNITION OF PREVIOUS STUDY AND EXPERIENCE
- RPL and RCC
If a candidate have previously completed any AQF competency units included in this qualification as shown on a Statement of Attainment we can grant them immediate credit transfer (RPL). Alternatively, if the candidate is experienced in any aspect of this qualification and can demonstrate their current competency in any of the competency units included in an AIFA qualification, their competency can be recognised and provide credit toward award of the qualification (RCC). Application for RPL or RCC must be advised on the Enrolment Application.
PRACTICAL SKILLS TRAINING
AIFA has been a Registered Training Organization (RTO) since 2000. WHY CHOOSE A QUALIFICATION IN FINANCIAL PLANNING?
The provision of personal financial advice is supervised by Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) for the Commonwealth Government. Businesses that provide financial advice include banks and a broad range of financial services companies and dealer groups, and are supervised by ASIC as holders of an Australian Financial Services Licence to provide advice in financial products. License holders are required to employ financial advisors who have met ASIC training requirements under Regulatory Guide 146 (RG146).
This AIFA qualification is an approved training course listed on ASIC's training register. If all electives modules are taken - Superannuation, Managed Investments, and Insurance - with the core Financial Planning Advice module, successful candidates will have met the RG146 study requirements for the typical products dealt with by a financial advisor. Candidates may elect to take Core Module & Module 1 and the specialist module in Paraplanning required by those who undertake such specialist services.
