


Professional Development Program - Financial Planning
The Professional Development Program - Financial Planning (PDP-FP) is an integrated training and employment program developed by Oceanic Human Resources. AIFA is responsible for deliver of the training elements of the PDP-FP.
The PDP-FP takes limited numbers of candidates at frequent intervals throughout the year. Enrolment offers are made to candidates after a careful selection process by Oceanic Human Resources to ensure the skills and experience of candidates will be enhanced by the training elements of the PDP-FP to a level required by Oceanic Clients.
Suitable for candidates who:
- can demonstrate a successful career track-record in other industries and seek to enter the financial services sector as a Financial Planner;
- would like to gain a full range of technical competencies and practical skills identified as critical for a successful career as a Financial Planner;
- seek opportunities to own their own business either now or in the future.
This program will equip you with:
- the ASIC RG 146 compliance qualification necessary to operate as a Financial Planner;
- technical competence to develop strategies and provide advice in financial planning, managed investments, superannuation, life insurance, securities and derivatives;
- the ability to assess client's needs, tailor and recommend an appropriate strategy;
- practical skills that enable you to write a compliant Statement of Advice (SOA) using a financial planning software;
- provide ongoing services to your clients;
- comprehensive business management skills to enable you to run and grow a profitable financial planning business.
Career Pathways
The course enables you to work as a Financial Adviser:
- under an employer's Australian Financial Services License; or
- under your own License.
Program Delivery and Duration
Complete the entire program in 13 weeks full-time face-to-face classroom delivery Monday to Thursday (9.00am to 5pm). Additional time is required for private study to complete the program.
From August 2008, the PDP-FP will be conducted at the North Sydney Learning Centre. Later in the 2008/09 financial year the PDP-FP will be available in Brisbane and Melbourne.

- Superannuation and Retirement Planning
Diploma in Financial Services - Practice Management for Financial Planners
- Financial Practice Business Planning and Financial Management
- Marketing and Sales Planning and Execution for Financial Practices
- Managing and Developing a Financial Practice Business
- Human Resources Plans and Strategies
The practical workshops include:
- Financial Planning Software workshops
- Technical strategies workshops
- Life insurance workshops
Assessment Requirements
You are subject to a process of continuous assessment throughout the Program.
